Installation, use, and maintenance of cylindrical/planetary gear reducers
The input shaft axis and output shaft axis of the reducer, as well as the axis of the connecting part, should be ensured to be coaxial, and the error should not exceed the allowable value of the coupling used.

After installation, the required lubricating oil must be injected into the oil tank of the box, and the oil level should be at the height between the upper and lower limit markings specified on the dipstick.
Before formal use, the reducer must be rotated by hand flexibly without any jamming phenomenon, and then run under no-load for no less than 2 hours. The operation should be smooth, without any impact, vibration, noise, or oil leakage. If any faults are found, they should be promptly eliminated.
When using a new gearbox for the first time, after 20 days of operation, it is necessary to replace the lubricating oil with a new one. In future use, the quality of the oil should be regularly checked. If impurities or aged or deteriorated oil are found, it must be replaced at any time. At the same time, the oil level should be checked regularly. If it is lower than the specified height, it should be replenished in a timely manner. In general, oil must be changed every three months for gearboxes that work continuously for a long time. For reducers that work no more than eight hours a day, the oil must be replaced every six months.
5. When the oil temperature significantly increases during use, exceeding 60 ° C or 85 ° C, and abnormal noise is generated, the use should be stopped and the cause checked. If it is caused by tooth surface adhesion or other reasons, it must be repaired, the fault must be eliminated, and the lubricating oil must be replaced before use.
6. If severe oil leakage or leakage is found on the joint surface during use, open the hood and apply 601 sealant. If oil leakage is found on the oil seal, please replace it with the original oil seal model.
7. Due to the characteristics of hard tooth surfaces, the input shaft is relatively thin, and it is generally not easy to use belt pulleys for connection and speed change. If belt transmission is necessary, it should be consulted with the technical department of the manufacturer.
The use and maintenance of planetary gear reducers
1、 Installation requirements
1. The connection between planetary gear reducers, electric motors, and working machines should use elastic couplings, gear couplings, or other non rigid couplings. It is generally recommended to use nylon column pin couplings, which have the characteristics of compact structure, easy manufacturing, safety and reliability, and easy maintenance. Manufacturers can supply nylon column pin couplings according to user needs, and they are shipped together with the reducer.
2. The installation error rate difference of planetary gear reducers shall not exceed the allowable value of the coupling used.
3. After the installation, adjustment, and alignment of the reducer, the anchor bolts must be firmly fixed to the foundation or base.
4. After installation, the reducer must rotate flexibly by hand without any jamming phenomenon.
2、 Lubrication
1. There are two types of reducers: oil pool lubrication and circulating lubrication. For reducers with high ambient temperature, high power, fast speed, or continuous operation, cyclic lubrication should be used as much as possible to reduce oil temperature and fully utilize the bearing capacity of the reducer.
2. Lubricating oil replacement period:
After using the new reducer (or newly replaced gear) for 10-15 days, replace the lubricating oil once. Under normal circumstances, the gearbox that works continuously 24 hours a day should have its lubricating oil replaced no more than once every three months; Gearboxes that work less than 10 hours a day should have their lubricating oil replaced no more than once every six months.
3、 Maintenance and upkeep
1. When the oil temperature significantly increases and exceeds 80 ℃, the quality of the oil deteriorates, and abnormal noise is generated during work, the use should be stopped, and the lubricating oil should be replaced no more than once every six months.
2. Protective covers should be installed on the extended shaft end and coupling of the reducer.
3. The gearbox should be inspected within six months, and spare parts must be manufactured according to the drawing requirements. The reducer for replacing spare parts must be sturdy and pass the running in and load test before it can be officially used.
4. The reducer should be kept clean regularly, and the exposed surface should not accumulate dust or dirt to avoid affecting heat dissipation.
5. Users should have a reasonable system for use, maintenance, and upkeep. Detailed records should be kept of the operation of the gearbox and any problems discovered during maintenance
