Gearboxes are generally used for low-speed and high torque transmission equipment. They reduce the speed of electric motors, internal combustion engines, or other high-speed power by meshing the small gears on the input shaft of the gearbox with the large gears on the output shaft. Ordinary gearboxes also have several pairs of gears with the same principle to achieve the desired reduction effect. The combination of gears, shafts, and bearings is made into a small gear and shaft, called a gear shaft. This structure is used when the diameter of the gear is not closely related to the diameter of the shaft. If the diameter of the shaft is d and the diameter of the gear root circle is df, then this structure should be adopted when df-d ≤ 6-7mn. When df-d > 6~7mn, gear and shaft are separated into two parts, such as low-speed shaft and big gear. At this point, the gear is connected to the shaft through a fixed flat key in the circumferential direction, and the parts on the shaft are fixed axially using the shaft shoulder, shaft sleeve, and bearing cover.

 

The casing is an important component of the reducer, serving as the base for the transmission parts and should have sufficient strength and rigidity. The casing is usually made of gray cast iron, and cast steel casing can also be used for heavy-duty or impact loaded reducers.

 

A reducer is an independent closed transmission device between the prime mover and the working machine, used to reduce speed and increase torque to meet work needs. The reducer has a compact structure, high efficiency, accurate and reliable transmission of motion, easy use and maintenance, and can be mass-produced, so it is widely used.
