The hard tooth surface reducer gears are made of special steel and undergo carburizing and quenching processes, with a surface hardness of HRC45 or higher; Soft tooth surface reducer gears are mostly cut and polished from a single piece of steel, with lower gear hardness;

Hard tooth surface reducer and soft tooth surface reducer are two commonly used reducers, with specific differences as follows:

1. The hard tooth surface reducer gears are made of special steel and undergo carburizing and quenching processes, with a surface hardness of HRC45 or higher; Soft tooth surface reducer gears are mostly cut and polished from a single piece of steel, with lower gear hardness;

2. Hard tooth surface reducers have high gear hardness and can withstand much larger loads and torques. They also have better wear resistance and lifespan than soft tooth surfaces. Therefore, in equipment with harsh working conditions and heavy loads, such as cranes, mining equipment, large cement mixers, sewage treatment equipment, etc., hard tooth surface reducers must be used to meet the requirements of use;

3. Soft tooth surface reducers are generally used on equipment with relatively low motor power due to their low gear hardness and ability to withstand low loads. The maximum motor power of soft tooth surface reducers generally does not exceed 3.7kw;

4. Hard tooth surface reducer has a long processing cycle and high cost; The production cycle of soft tooth surface reducers is short, and the cost is much lower compared to hard tooth surface reducers;

5. The hardness of the output and input shafts of a hard toothed reducer is much higher than that of a soft toothed reducer;

6. The input shaft speed of the hard tooth surface reducer is generally ≤ 1500r/min; The working environment temperature is between minus 40 degrees Celsius and 50 degrees Celsius. If it is below 0 degrees Celsius, the lubricating oil should be preheated to above 0 degrees Celsius before starting, and it can be operated in both directions.

7. Hard tooth surface reducers generally use oil pool lubrication and natural cooling. When the thermal power cannot meet the requirements, circulating oil lubrication or air cooling or cooling coil cooling can be used.

Classification of Hard Gear Reducers

1. Hard tooth surface gear reducers mainly include parallel axis series and vertical axis series. The stability of the vertical axis series is not as good as that of the parallel axis series, so the parallel axis series is preferred when space allows;

2. The parallel axis series reducers are divided into four major series according to national standards: ZDY (single-stage), ZLY (two-stage), ZSY (three-stage), and ZFY (four stage).
